Our Danone Impact Journey

Danone is committed to the sustainable shared value creation model that has driven its vision of business since it established its dual economic and social project for the first time in 1972. Building on this heritage, Danone defined more than 15 years ago its mission as a Group: bringing health through food to as many people as possible.

In March 2022, Danone unveiled a new strategic plan, Renew Danone, that ambitions to reconnect Danone with a sustainably profitable growth model, underpinned by greater alignment between purpose and performance. In that context, in 2023, the Group reframed its sustainability roadmap called the Danone Impact Journey, articulated around 3 pillars: Health, Nature and People & Communities. In 2026, Danone opened a new phase of its Impact Journey, reaffirming its sustainability ambition and how it will step up its efforts for the next five years.

Below you will find our commitments on the 3 pillars

Health

The foundation of our mission to “bring health through food to as many people as possible” began over 100 years ago. With decades of expertise in health and nutrition, we are uniquely positioned to help consumers and patients support their well-being through nutritious, sustainable food and drink choices. Our guiding belief is that everyone can achieve better health through improved nutrition and behavior.

(a) Although the 2025 baseline already exceeds the 2030 target, the target aims to preserve and consolidate this strong performance, ensuring a predominantly healthy product portfolio.
(b) For each CBU is established the list of unique SKUs with their Weighted Distribution for the time period considered. For the KPI, is considered the top quintile of the SKU list = the 20% of SKUs having the highest values of Weighted Distribution, which means they are the most widely accessible to consumers across the different distribution channels. Among this top list,  is identified how many SKUs have a HSR rating of at least 3,5 stars. The numbers are then totalized for the 8 CBUs in scope = (number of most distributed SKUs with a HSR of at least 3,5 / number of most distributed SKUs).
(c) Including via Danone's local actions and external collaborations. As a reference, in 2025, 3.1M screenings were performed for iron deficiency and anemia. The baseline restart for the cumulative count over the period 2026-2030 is set back to 0.
(d) As a reference, in 2025, there were 101 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. The baseline restart for the cumulative count over the 2026-2030 period is set back to 0.

Nature

To deliver our mission, we depend on nature. Food has a critical role to play at the forefront of many environmental threats and solutions, from climate change and biodiversity to water protection. Our ambition at Danone is to make food a solution that preserves and regenerates nature and strengthen farming resilience. In 2023, Danone was also the first company to set a methane reduction target for its fresh milk supply.

(a) Awaiting new SBTi standards, which may lead to adjusting current targets.
(b) Net Zero ambition is explained in §4.3.1 Climate change.
(c) The Danone Impact Journey Phase 2 target scope is revised to refocus on key ingredients with a climate, water and/or biodiversity risk. The Phase 2 target focuses on Direct Freshmilk (farmgate), Almonds, Direct Soy beans, Strawberry and Sugar beet in Europe that Danone sources directly from farmers or from suppliers working with farmers.
(d) Danone Impact Journey phase 2 ambition is to extend the former target (covering Paper & Board, Palm, Soybean, Cocoa (direct cocoa & chocolate)) by adding new materials (coffee, soybean oil and beef).
(e) Thanks to the social businesses supported or previously supported by Danone Communities and the Water Access Acceleration Fund (W2AF).
(f) Recover means recycle or valorize through energy recovery the equivalent amount by weight of plastic packaging put on the market.

People and Communities

Driving a forward-looking organization that supports its people and communities, equipping and empowering employees and farmers with the skills and capabilities of the future, and fostering human rights and social progress throughout our ecosystem.
