5.4M€ to aid the transition to a regenerative agriculture

In February 2018, Danone in France made further commitments towards more transparency, organic products, and ingredients sourced from agriculture that is respectful of our health and that of the planet. On September 21st, Danone and its brands gave life to these commitments by donating a full day's proceeds in France in favor of projects aiding the transition to a regenerative agriculture.

At Danone, we believe that each time we eat and drink, we vote for the world we want to live in. To support this vision and bring it to life, on September 21st, Danone donated its proceeds in France to regenerative agriculture projects: an agriculture that is concerned with soil preservation, respect for animal welfare and the establishment of a long-term relationship with partners.

“Each time we make a choice for our nutrition, we encourage – consciously or otherwise – certain agricultural practices. Each of us can contribute through their purchases to the evolution of agriculture. That is our belief and the message we wish to send with our brands as part of this campaign. We want to support farmers towards more virtuous practices that create a stronger shared value for all.” – Emmanuel Faber

Danone’s employees and partners chose to act and go to stores on September 21st with one objective: to raise awareness about the fact that a purchase is not trivial, even less when it comes to nutrition. The partners came to testify about the agricultural practices and concrete actions that they have already put in place.

100% of Danone's brands in France were mobilized, including Danone, Activia, Actimel, Danette, Light & Free, Les 2 Vaches, evian, Volvic, Badoit, La Salvetat, Blédina, or the Laboratoires Gallia. This operation took place in partnership with 10 large supermarket chains. Danone raised over 5 million euros, which will be transferred to the Danone Ecosystem Fund.

The projects, which will be selected by Danone and a panel of experts, will revolve around soil conservation and respect for animal welfare, while also proving support to farmers. In France, farmers are already engaged in the agricultural transition and implementing new practices. Others will be able to join them soon thanks to this day.
