In Argentina, the fight against malnutrition in childhood continues

Two years ago Danone worked with the local government and NGOs like Pata Pila and CONIN to create the first early childhood care center of its kind in Salta, Argentina. The opening of the center, as part of the “Let’s nourish the future” program, brings to life Danone’s commitments to health and nutrition in the first 1,000 days, from the start of pregnancy until the child is two years old.

Making nutritional education available anywhere

The center brings together nutritionists, pediatricians and other health experts to support parents in the first 1,000 days of their children from conception onwards. For those who can’t reach the center, a mobile unit has been formed to provide nutritional education to parents. The mobile unit also reaches areas more remote, poorer areas, realizing our mission of bringing health through food to as many people as possible.

Putting global commitments into action

Since its creation two years ago, the center has been achieving encouraging results. The center has connected with more than 2,200 children and their parents about the importance of nutrition and has regularly monitored the nutritional status of a hundred pregnant women. The mobile unit also provided nutritional care in more remote areas of Salta, reaching an additional 1,200 children and their families with nutrition services and information.
