Volvic

One of the most iconic water brands in our portfolio. Volvic’s  journey started around 13,500 years ago, when volcanoes in the French region of Auvergne erupted and formed an impervious bedrock – an immense natural water filter. Volvic’s volcanic natural mineral water originates from the depths of those protected volcanoes, in an impluvium with unique biodiversity, where it gets filtered for five years. This gives Volvic its unique mineral composition and crisp taste. It also contributes to the vibrancy of Volvic’s Aquadrinks - Volvic natural mineral water combined with a mix of natural fruits, flavours, or leaves. Today, Volvic provides a variety of healthy and tasty beverage options for every hydration occasion.

Volvic's composition

Volvic’s natural mineral water begins its journey as rainwater before it infiltrates the ground of Volvic’s preserved and protected impluvium, to be filtered through six layers of volcanic rock for five years. It offers pure natural mineral water, characterized by its unique volcanic mineral composition. The long underground journey protects the water against any potential pollution caused by human activity. It is bottled directly at our source, without requiring any chemical treatment.

Actively maintaining biodiversity

Protecting the Volvic source

The natural volcanic ecosystem around the Volvic source, and in particular the impluvium, is unique. This is why Volvic has been engaged for more than 15 years to preserve and protect its local heritage and biodiversity. In 2006, Volvic co-founded, along with the four local communities of the catchment area, the CEPIV (Environmental Committee for the Protection of the Volvic Impluvium). This public-private partnership, implements actions with all territory stakeholders to develop and protect the catchment area and its biodiversity. For example, it supports sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture, helping the community to have sustainable infrastructure, and is engaged with several NGOs for the preservation of the biodiversity around the source (LPO, CENA and others).

Making the switch to renewable energy

Since January 2020, the Volvic plain water bottling site has been powered by 100% renewable energy. This comes from two sources: water-powered turbines and biogas fuel, produced by the decomposition of organic waste. Favoring renewable energy is part of our wider mission to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Volvic has been working, for example, on the supply chain to investigate lower carbon transportation alternatives and distance efficiency.
