What is B Corp™?

B Corp™ is a movement of companies that have been certified to meet high standards for social and environmental performance and want to work together to change the economic system for the better. Certified companies are working, for example, to create more inclusive working conditions, improve their carbon footprint and respond to the ever-increasing challenges facing the world.

More than 10,000 companies from 157 industries in over 100 countries worldwide are B Corp™ certified.

B Corp™ certification is a mark of trust: a promise that a company meets strict standards in terms of social and environmental commitment, transparency and accountability. The certificate is issued by B Lab, an independent non-profit organisation

What does the B Corp™ certification stand for?

  • B CorpTM is a certification
like the FairTrade or organic label, but this certification applies to all company activities.

  • B CorpTM is a vision
and the better way to do business – better for the environment, our employees, customers, suppliers, consumers and patients.

  • B CorpTM is a legal obligation that is enshrined in our statutes
We want to have a positive and significant impact on society and the environment through our business and operational activities.

  • B CorpTM is a movement
and a community of companies working together to have a positive impact on the planet and people.

  • B CorpTM is unique
B CorpTM is an award that meets demanding criteria in terms of performance, corporate responsibility and transparency.

How does a company get certified?

B Corp™ certification covers five areas and assesses the company against high social and environmental standards. The holistic certification process is considered demanding. To obtain B Corp™ certification, a company must undergo the ‘B Impact Assessment’ and achieve at least 80 out of a possible 200 points. During the assessment, the company is evaluated in the following five areas of impact:

  • Corporate governance: How transparently and responsibly is the company managed?

  • Employees: How does the company treat its employees? Are inclusive values embedded in day-to-day business?

  • Environment: How does the company minimise its environmental impact?

  • Customers:How does the company treat its customers and create added value for them?

  • Society: What is the company's social commitment and how does it contribute to the community?
