Health
Provide positive nutrition & hydration for healthier lives
Impacting nutrition through fortification
Fortifying some of our core products with vitamins and minerals helps us combat nutrient deficiencies and promote the health of our consumers. In 2024, 61% of our fresh dairy, plant-based and specialised nutrition products sold were fortified.
In regions such as Africa, the Middle East and Asia, where iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is a critical and growing health problem affecting 40% of children under the age of 5, we fortify many products with iron and other vitamins and minerals. For example, in 2024, 100% of the dairy product portfolio for children in Algeria and Egypt is fortified with iron, contributing to a reduction in the prevalence of IDA, which is a major public health issue in these two countries.
Driving solutions for better health
We are committed to developing nutritional solutions to improve health. This is an important focus of our sustainability concept, the Danone Impact Journey.
≥85%
We aim to fortify ≥85% of our milk product portfolio for children with relevant vitamins and minerals by 2025
Impact-oriented projects
When tackling major health issues, products and training alone are often not enough. That is why we implement projects with a positive impact that are tailored to local needs. These projects are ambitious, innovative and socially oriented. They aim to contribute to systemic change by achieving measurable, positive health outcomes at the country level. They are usually developed and implemented in collaboration with independent expert organisations and partners at the local level to ensure that they are sustainable and tailored to the specific local context.
In Indonesia, where 1 in 3 children suffer from iron deficiency anemia, we collaborate with local governments and health professionals to raise awareness of the condition. Our affordable, fortified products, like SGM Eksplor, are enriched with iron and vitamin C to enhance absorption and are tailored to these local markets as part of the overall initiative.

Making healthy products accessible and affordable
Offering healthy food and drinks that are safe, of good value, and accessible—physically and in terms of price point—is at the heart of our mission. Affordability and accessibility dimensions are an integral part of our business decisions.
We gather insights on health and nutrition in the countries where we operate, along with information on local consumption and pricing trends. This helps us develop distribution channels and support projects that ensure that part of our healthy products reach the low- and middle-income populations who need them most.
