Irritable bowel syndrom : an unknown problem
:: Everyone suffers from time to time with digestive discomfort. Some people are concerned from time to time, whilst others experience symptoms with a higher frequency/intensity (IBS). On this year’s World Digestive Health day – the WGO, supported by Danone presents new figures and data related to IBS and proposes recommendation for people to maintain their overall digestive health.
This campaign does not aim to provide cures for IBS, simply raise awareness and provide general advice.

- As many as 65% of children with frequent abdominal pain actually have irritable bowel

- Sufferers report a staggering 34% loss of overall work productivity - equivalent to almost 14 hours per week. 6
- 90% of people who claim to suffer from Digestive discomfort symptoms do not seek medical advice and are left undiagnosed 2
This year’s World Digestive Health Day is on May 29th and is dedicated to helping the estimated 100 million (and more) people [estimation based on IBS prevalence available data from 15 Industrialised countries], and millions more worldwide who suffer from irritable bowel
