Supply Chain at Danone
::A relatively recent but nevertheless strategic component of the business, the Supply Chain ensures that Danone products get to consumers under the best possible conditions and at the best price. The department has three missions: sales forecasting, customer service and logistics.
Interacting with Marketing teams and the production units, Supply Chain draws up production planning. As for the Customer Service team, they are responsible for optimising the flow of orders placed by Danone’s customers. At the end of the chain, the Logistics team manages the physical flow of merchandise. The Supply Chain is a multifaceted profession, offering a diverse range of career options. It requires rigorous people of analytical mind, with good communication skills.
“I joined Danone in 1989 as a computer programmer and then progressed to the role of IT Manager, with three people on my team. From there, I moved into my current role, which is the Planning and Logistics Manager in Nutricia Indonesia. My objective is to ensure that we have optimum levels of working capital, that we maximise the service to customers, and that we increase the accuracy of the forecasts we make.
The thing I love most about my job and about working at Danone, is the great teamwork you find here. We’re often dealing with high-pressure situations, but everyone pulls together to make sure we can hit our targets. It’s a fantastic feeling when you’ve solved a particular challenge and you can take pride in the results.”
