Developing employees' skills

:: In numerous countries, Danone's subsidiaries are regularly ranked among the best local employers. Faced with the advent of new stakes, the group continues to reinvent its human resources policy. This is based on a simple belief it has held for over thirty years : there can be no lasting economic development unless human resource development is involved. However this steadfast mindset does not prevent it from reinventing its HR model so that in can be continually adapted.

Ongoing reinforcement of staff employability is essential : developing skills constitutes the only real active safety mechanism for employees faced with the potential risk of losing their jobs. This is why, even in 2009, a year when a good many companies cut their training budgets, Danone decided to maintain and even increase its training budgets :

- The average number of training hours per employee per year rose from 24 to 28 ;
- 300,000 training hours : a 16% increase ;
- The number of employees trained rose by 8% ;
- "Away day" campuses for the various geographic zones that bring together 200-300 managers per session and facilitate dissemination of the group's culture.
